HALUAN is the acronym for Pertubuhan Himpunan Lepasan Institusi Pendidikan Malaysia (Organization of Graduates of Educational Institutions, Malaysia).
It is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) established in 1988. HALUAN initially focused upon charitable efforts for the benefit of members through family nurturing programs and counselling. It occasionally organised limited motivational and educational camps to reach out the community.
Since 2002, our membership and organisational growth brought us to a new social horizon, encouraging participation in efforts to eradicate social ills and develop a sustainable community, from assisting the most needy and disadvantaged locals to sending international disaster relief missions.
We have now grown with 14 national branches. There are also offices in Cambodia, Egypt, Jordan and United Kingdom, mainly to support programs for Malaysian students and expatriates.
Our international educational programs, charity and relief missions has taken us to 20 countries as far as Turkey and China, thanks to our ever expanding local and international partnerships.
